EXPANSION PROJECT

In September 2014, Dubai Airports announced that AMIA will undergo a US$ 32bn expansion which will enable the airport to fly more than 220 million passengers and 16 million tonnes of cargo each year.

The expansion will be carried out in two phases over a six to eight year period. The first phase includes the construction of two satellite buildings that will able to process 120 million passengers annually, as well as accommodate one hundred A380 aircraft at any one time.

More than its size, AMIA’s uniqueness will be reflected through its strategic deployment of innovative technology and efficient processes that will enhance the experience for all passengers.

AMIA, which is spread over 56 sq. kms., is designed to integrate completely with the other districts of DWC.
