1- How can I sign up for land, or warehouses in DLC?


You need to fill in an interest form, which can be downloaded from our website, or email us on info.dlc@dwc.ae and we will forward you the form.
Dubai Logistics City will then contact you and discuss with you your specific requirements and the options available for land/warehouse in DLC.

2- If I lease a plot of land in DLC what is the maximum duration for which I can lease it?


The maximum duration you can lease land in DLC is for 30 years.

3- Can I lease space for a warehouse in the shared forwarder area in DLC?


Yes, you can lease space for a warehouse on an annual basis.

4- Can I buy and own land in DLC?


No, you can only lease land.

5- What are the criteria for leasing land or warehouse in DLC?


DLC is primarily focusing on companies involved in logistics or supply chain industries or associated service providers to logistics / supply chain sectors.

6- If I lease a plot of land, when can I start to build my own facility?


You can start building your facility once you receive the final design approval and the building permit, which will usually take approximately 2 to 3 months.

7- How can DLC help me get started?


DLC offers a wide range of services - to select the right type of plot of land at the right location - financing of your facilities - turn-key development, i.e. designing, building and financing.

8- As a logistics service provider, can I build and break air cargo pallets in my own facilities?


For the time being, only break down of pallets is allowed by customs provided you have in-house customs service. Build up of pallets for air transportation is under discussion.

9- As an airline, can I self-handle and operate my own cargo facility in DLC?


Yes, airlines will be allowed to build, own and operate their own cargo facilities themselves for landside operation in DLC.

10- Will I have water and electricity to build my facility?

During the construction phase the customer needs to arrange for water & electricity in cooperation with their contractors. On completion of construction, water & electricity will be provided by DLC.

11- How can I get a licence to operate in the DLC Free Zone?

Licences will be granted to companies who operate in the logistics business:

  • As an industrial or trading company with the need for multi-modal transportation
  • As a logistics service provider or transport operator
  • or selected companies, who provide amenities and ancillary services to DLC tenants

DLC will assist you in applying for a Free Zone operating licence after registering your company with DLC and after signing the Land Lease Contract.

12- Can a company transfer a trade licence from one free zone to another?

Transfer of licence is not permitted from one free zone to another.

13- Will companies be able to receive their licence prior to finishing construction/occupation of their warehouse?

Yes, upon completion of 70% of the warehouse construction, the original licence is handed over to the company.

14- What is the Visa policy?


Once the company is registered with DWC, the Land Lease contract is signed by both parties and licence is issued, then you are eligible to apply for visas.

15- When is the payment for the land development fee due?

The payment will be due at the time of signing the contract by both parties.

16- How can I reserve land adjacent to my existing plot and what are the costs associated with it?

An additional form needs to be filled requesting the reservation of an adjacent plot. For reservation of adjacent land, there are no fees applicable for the first year. Upon starting the operations on the leased plot, the tenant will have the option of first right of refusal for the adjacent plot. If the reservation is to be maintained, the customer will have to pay  25% of the reserved plot’s rental fee.

17- Assuming the customer builds its own warehouse facility, what is the exit strategy?

The customer will have to notify DLC of their intentions in writing. Then there are several options:

  • Sell the facility to a party approved by DLC
  • Lease the facility to another customer approved by DLC

18- Will the tenants have to follow any perimeter development and border fencing?

Kindly refer to Dubai Logistics City’s building guidelines.

19- Where will there be public access points to/from DLC?

The access point to/from DLC is from Emirates Road. Please refer to the map link for a visual picture. (Coming Soon)

20- Is a Freight Forwarding or Logistics Company eligible for 100% foreign ownership within DLC?

Yes, since DLC is a Free Zone, companies operating in DLC will be registered as a DLC LLC Co. and will therefore be 100% foreign ownership company.
